Brookline, MA — The Brookline Arts Center invites the public to attend its Annual Meeting on Tuesday September 11, 2007 at 7:00pm. The Brookline Arts Center is a well-known community arts center that provides affordable, quality art classes, gallery exhibitions and educational events for adults and children.

This past year has been a busy one for the Brookline Arts Center, with events like the 32nd annual Crafts Showcase fundraiser and a number of high-profile gallery exhibitions. This spring, the Arts Center also presented the heralded “Conversation Pieces” exhibition of public sculpture, which was celebrated with a gala opening reception that featured Brookline novelist Linda Barnes and raised over $11,000.

“We are excited to share our future plans with the community” said Board President Lenore Sempert. “The Annual Meeting is always a great opportunity to review the year’s progress and look ahead to a new year’s projects. We invite the community to drop in to meet the Arts Center board and staff members.”

The Annual Meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the home of Peter Ames, located at 90 Ivy Street in Brookline, Massachusetts, near the St. Mary’s MBTA stop on the green line. Peter Ames is a Brookline Arts Center board member and chairs the Governance and Nominations Committee.

For more information about BAC programs, visit http://www.brooklineartscenter.com, email or call 617-566-5715. The Annual Meeting is free and open to the public.

The programs of the Brookline Arts Center are supported in part by the Brookline Commission for the Arts and the Brookline Community Foundation. The Brookline Arts Center is funded in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

About the BAC: The Brookline Arts Center began 43 years ago in the basement of a Brookline home and in 1968 moved to its present home, a former firehouse, at 86 Monmouth Street. The BAC has received a Brookline Preservation Award for their use and upkeep of the historic Victorian firehouse. The Brookline Arts Center also provides free art classes for low-income populations through scholarships and the ArtReach program, in which free art classes are offered at Brookline Housing Authority buildings.
